The entrance hall can often double as the telephone booth.

Multiple use of space is an evidence of good planning.

Consider the human body: if a separate organ were provided for each function, we wouldn’t be able to carry them all around with us.

Think of the mouth and its many uses.

Aside from its principal uses as a base for lipstick and for kissing, it is used for talking, for sucking and blowing, for emergency breathing, including snoring, for biting off thread, for taking in food and grinding it up preparatory to swallowing it, for holding pins in sewing and nails in shingling, for forming a smile, a grin, or a grimace, for laughing, clucking and whistling, and too rarely to say a kind word.

The Living Room

When you pass from the hall into the living room, what kind of room do you like to be in?

There are almost as many types of ideas as to the size, shape, colors, and uses of the living room as there are people. Some have the idea that a living room is similar to the old-fashioned parlor that was shut up all week and was opened only on Sunday, was usually musty, and generally unused and uncomfortable.

Others go to the other extreme and think of the living room as a place where the children study, where people lounge and read the paper or the latest magazine. A living room is to be lived in, isn’t it?

Oh, to get away from this bedlam! How often have you thought that when the children get to playing Indians and cowboys, or some other equally exciting and din-producing game! A house needs a quiet spot, a den, a library, a family room, or some other place where some members of the family can escape from the rest of the gang at times.

A quiet retreat from the din of living.

There is usually the need for more than one area of living: the children want to look at the TV; Dad wants to read his paper; Mother wants to telephone; the older brother has to study and do his homework for high school; friends drop in for a short call; someone comes to see Dad on some kind of business. These things must all go on simultaneously.

They can’t very well all be in the same room at the same time. Open planning is fine, but it has its limitations. Some families have hobbies that they work on at home, whereas others are content to read the newspaper, turn on the television, and drop off to sleep in an easy chair.

If a quiet corner can be found for a writing desk or if a well-lighted alcove with an easy chair and a bookcase can be managed, the livability of the house will be greatly enhanced.

The living room must not be the principal hallway through the house, although careless planners often make it just that. Every living room should have a point of interest aside from the television set: a fireplace, a picture window, a mural, an interesting grouping of elegant furniture, a music center, or something that reflects the tastes, personality, or interests of the owner.

It is a good idea to use a mortgage calculator if you decide to purchase land or a property.

Parades from the town center take place every so often as well. Visit Toontown, Tomorrowland and Fantasyland. Each part of the Disney Park has food, fun, rides and characters. Even a week’s vacation will not allow you to experience every piece this magical place has to offer.


Not only is the Disney World Park a wonderful location to visit, but there are various places around that you can enjoy as well. Universal Studios is a fantastic destination as well. This type of adventure will leave every member of the family wanting more. One vacation is never enough. There are special events at Disney World as well through different holidays. Christmas, New Years and 4th of July are wonderful times of the year to experience this place and a whole lot more.

Also known as the “Bird’s Nest”, it resonated in cheers as Chinese citizens were happy that the years of hard work is finally over. BOCOG president Liu Qi, who is also a member of the CPC Central Committee and secretary of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee, together with Guo Jinlong, vice-secretary of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee, Mayor of Beijing and executive president of BOCOG, were present to witness, lead and complete the National Stadium’s celebratory ceremony.

Liu and Guo unveiled the National Stadium to the public. Chen Gang, vice-mayor of Beijing and also director of the Beijing 2008 project, issued the certificate of inspection to National Stadium CEO Li Aiqing, while the participative units also received commemorative certificates from leaders of Beijing.

“After years of effort, the National Stadium is finally completed. We hope that we can provide better services for the Olympic Games with better equipment,” remarked an enthusiastic Li. After the ceremonies, other builders were eager to take pictures with the Olympic venue, which they considered their “child.”

The Bird’s Nest will serve as the main venue of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. It is situated in the Olympic Green and occupies 21.4 hectares. It stretches 333 meters from north to south and 298 meters from east to west, with a total area cover of of 258,000 square meters. The National Stadium is 68 meters high and has a 91,000 seating capacity. It will host the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2008 Olympic Games, Athletics and Football events.
The national stadium is cover-protected by a sort of membrane. Similar to China’s National Aquatics Center, or “Water Cube,” another Olympic venue which is also surrounded in this membrane, only, the Bird’s Nest version is more sophisticated. It is curved and double-layered, offering gracefully decorative soundproof, wind-proof, rain-proof, and even UVA protection to its already impressive and intricate body. The outer layer of this Bird’s Nest  membrane, completely constructed in November of 2007, was created using 884 individual ETFE panels, covering a total of 38,500 square meters. The inner layer consists of PTFE material. 1,044 panels take up 53,000 square meters of area, whose main roles are to level up the acoustics in the stadium and to support the equipment within the steel frame. This special membrane can also help lighting within the stadium and effectively diminish glare and shadowing, allowing for a more fair, unbiased, and favorable competition environment.
BOCOG executives and leaders from the government of Beijing, namely Ji Lin, Li Shixiang, Liu Jingmin, Zhao Wenzhi, Yang Shu’an, Li Xiaohong, and other representatives from related departments were also around at the National Stadium’s celebratory ceremony.

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly (Il buono, il brutto, il cattivo in Italian) – 4 Stars (Excellent)

After enjoying unexpected commercial success with “A Fistful of Dollars” and “For a Few Dollars More”, Italian Director Sergio Leone ends his trilogy of “Spaghetti Westerns” with “The Good, The Bad and The Ugly”.

Amazingly, even at this point in his masterful direction of western movies made in Spain, Leone would not enjoy a nickel’s worth of adulation from the critics as only the Laurel Awards would give a single award to Clint Eastwood for Action Performance, and that was as runner-up.

Hollywood and its stars ignored Sergio Leone just like they have Johnny Depp. They refuse to recognize that even westerns or pirate pictures can be artfully done and have unique acting performances. Clint Eastwood is The Man With No Name, and Johnny Depp is the perfect pirate as Captain Jack Sparrow. There will never be another equal of either in these roles.

At least one film director, screenwriter and actor
